  • Evaluate the exam delivery options and select the one most appropriate for your preferred examination experience.
  • Create a study plan with a list of milestones to take the exam
Wednesday, May 6 at 2:00 pm, Insurable by Design: Flood Multi-Hazard Risk, and the Future of Resilient Buildings Floodproofing.com is putting on a 1-hour course, to cover the critical relationship between floodplain design, multi-hazard mitigation, and building insurability. Participants will explore key concepts including FEMA/NFIP requirements, ASCE 24 updates, Flood Elevations, along with compliant wet and dry floodproofing strategies.
Key Discussion Points:
  • Define key floodplain design concepts, including Base Flood Elevation (BFE), Design Flood Elevation (DFE), flood zones, and applicable FEMA, NFIP, and ASCE 24 requirements.
  • Compare wet and dry floodproofing strategies, including engineered openings and active versus passive systems, and their impact on building performance and code compliance.
  • Evaluate how multi-hazard risks, including flood, wind, wildfire, and severe weather, affect building design decisions, material selection, and long-term insurability.
  • Apply integrated mitigation strategies such as elevation, floodproofing systems, and defensible space planning to improve life safety, reduce damage, and enhance building resilience.
